Jarosław Mastalerz is a faculty lecturer in Digital Transformation in the MBA program at Warsaw University of Technology Business School and a former senior financial-services executive, board director, entrepreneur, and investor with nearly three decades of leadership experience spanning banking, insurance, technology, digital transformation, and venture capital. Most recently, he served as CEO of PZU Life, Poland’s largest life insurer, and as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Alior Bank. Earlier, he spent nearly a decade on the Management Board of mBank, where he first led the bank’s retail business across Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia before taking responsibility for technology and operations as COO/CTO. Throughout his career, Mastalerz has operated at the intersection of business strategy, technology, and large-scale transformation. He founded and served as CEO of BRE Ubezpieczenia, one of Poland’s early digital insurance businesses, and later spent seven years as Managing Partner of mAccelerator, a corporate venture capital fund investing in technology companies reshaping financial services. His executive track record spans strategy, finance, technology, operations, digital transformation, customer experience, and organizational change. A consistent theme throughout his career has been leveraging emerging technologies to challenge legacy business models, accelerate transformation, and create new sources of competitive advantage. Today, his work is increasingly focused on the convergence of artificial intelligence, behavioral science, and neurochemistry. He is particularly interested in how emerging research into the neurochemical mechanisms underlying motivation, reward, attention, and decision-making can inform the design of more effective AI systems and human-AI interactions—to improve adoption, engagement, and ultimately the success rate of AI-driven transformation.
