Johann Achim Beissel looks back on more than 35 years of professional experience in management positions within the statutory health insurance in Germany. In the USA, he got to know and appreciate the American way of thinking about managed care early in the 2000´s during several internships at the HMO Kaiser Permanente Southern California, Orange County, Los Angeles. Johann Achim is a long-time member of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) and a regular participant of the Kaiser Permanente International Program. Since December 2012 he has been working as Head of Hospital Management for BIG direct healthy in Dortmund, Germany. In 2017 he was nominated for the MSD Health Award for outstanding innovation providing the first “real” Case Management Project in Germany for patients with mental diseases. Johann Achim is a bone marrow donor and a lifesaver for his DNA twin Larry in Texas, USA.
